Tekakwitha Living Center

Tekakwitha Living Center (TLC) is the largest long-term care facility in Roberts County, serving an average of 58 residents each day. The facility is Medicare and Medicaid Certified. TLC was named after Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, a Native American who converted to Catholicism and lived a life dedicated to prayer and care of the sick and aged. In 2016 the Benedictine Health System (BHS) transferred ownership of Tekakwitha Living Center to the Coteau des Prairies Hospital Health Care System in Sisseton. The facility is located at 6 East Chestnut, with the main entrance on the east side of the building, along Veterans Avenue.

Coteau Des Prairies Health Care System

Coteau des Prairies Health (CDP) Care System is a 25-bed, critical access, acute care, community non-profit hospital serving approximately 21,000 residents in the Glacial Lakes Region in Northeast South Dakota as well as West Central Minnesota. CDP Health Care System owns and operates the attached certified rural health clinic in Sisseton; the Browns Valley Clinic in Browns Valley, MN; and the Rosholt Clinic in Rosholt, SD. The hospital opened in 1967, and has seen expansion and remodeling projects completed in 1996, 2000 and 2013. The newest 22,000 square-foot addition was necessary in order to support a growing number of patient visits, and included a new clinic, an emergency room, birthing suites, a laboratory, and a radiology department. The hospital and clinic are located at 205 Orchard Drive in Sisseton (use entrance on southeast side of the building).

Valley View Country Club

Valley View Country Club (VVCC) is located four miles west of Sisseton on SD Highway 10. The name Valley View depicts the beautiful, commanding view of the valley that includes both South Dakota and Minnesota. The course has watered fairways and lush greens throughout the golfing season. VVCC is a nine-hole course with a superior rating. It features 2,868 yards and a slope rating of 113.

VVCC opens in early spring and continues through the late fall, and is open seven days a week. Green fees are available to the general public every day of the week. Men's league play is on Wednesday afternoons, and women's league play is on Tuesday afternoons, but green fees are still available. Tournaments are held some weekends. For more information call the clubhouse during the open season.

Sisseton Arts Council

The Sisseton Arts Council has actively provided a wide range of programs in music, theater, dance, visual art and literature in the schools and the community since 1980 and is considered one of the most active rural-community arts organizations in the state. Each year on the first Sunday in December they kick off the Christmas season with Holiday Harmonies, a concert featuring local talent which benefits the Sisseton Food Pantry. For more than 35 years they have hosted a week-long residency of Missoula Children's Theater, which annually involves a cast of more than 60 students from kindergarten through high school. Library Cards

A library card is needed to check out materials. Library card applications are available at the check-out desk at the library. You must show an ID and proof of address for the application. Once the application is completed, there is a two-day waiting period before materials can be checked out.
Residents of the city may obtain a library card free of charge. Anyone living outside the city limits of Sisseton may purchase a one-year card for $10.00 a person or $15.00 per family (parent, spouse, and children).

Programs

Reading Capers - open to children in Kindergarten through 4th Grade on the third Monday of the month. Starts after school and finishes at 5:00 p.m. Children must pre-register.
Summer Reading Program - open to children 3 years old to 8th grade. Runs the Tuesday after Memorial Day through the middle of July.
One Book South Dakota - a program sponsored with the South Dakota Humanities Council. A book group reads and discusses the chosen book
